Legal Question in Disability Law in Florida

I live in Florida. Some of my friends smoke marijuana illegally, but none of them have gotten in trouble before. If they were to be caught possessing a small amount of marijuana (less than one ounce), how much trouble would they be in? They are over 18 years old. Thanks.

Possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana is a first degree misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail or probation. 20 grams or more of marijuana is a third degree felony punishable by up to 5 years of prison or probation. A conviction of any drug charge in Florida results in a 2 year driver's license suspension.

An ounce is 28 grams, so depending upon the specific amount that is being possessed, possession of less than an ounce might be a misdemeanor or a felony.
