Legal Question in Banking Law in Florida

Personal checks

When i write a personal check for a debt, is there any florida laws that state i cannot put in the section for what the check is for what i want. I am paying a divorce settlement that i feel is unfair and every month on the check section i put what i feel like i am paying for money. I have written blood money, payoff money, bite me money. Never a vulgar curse word or threat. Is there any law that states i cannot do that. Thank you for any assistance.

Re: Personal checks

I am not aware of any law prohibiting writing non-obscene messages on a check. I would advise you, however, that you should refrain from this practice. There is no advantage to be gained from doing that, and it could come back to haunt you in the future in the event there is some dispute over the divorce settlement.
