Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

Our house went through foreclosure but has not yet been auctioned off. Would bankruptcy eliminate the bank from being able to come after us down the road for the house debt?

If bankruptcy will eliminate the house debt must we wait for the house to be "sold" and then file chap 7 or could it be done while the house is still not "auctioned off".
