Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Can I cut out my lunch break.

I am a single mom with two small children 1 and 2 yrs of age so needless to say my work schedule 830 -530 makes it so I am dropping them off at 745 picking them up at 615. My question is that I would like to skip my lunch to have the opportunity to pick up my girls sooner and skip traffic- I was told that it was illegal to have me skip my hour of unpaid lunch. I have heard (hearsay) that there is no law mandating an obligated lunch so I was hoping to have some statute in writing I could use to my advantage in negotiating my contract.

Depending on the type of employment, a luch break is often required. Even if it is not, by law, required, the employer has every right to require you to take the break as part of the job.
