Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

A Music Store refuses to sell customer piano keyboard .

A music store manager insisted a potential buyer of a piano keyboard - sign a paper so that the store would hold a keyboard from manufacturer for the customer to purchase. This was not a contract rather a paper to hold keyboard. When customer retured with the two keyboards she was trading in which was also specified on signed paper and tried to purchase the keyboard at the agreed price- the store wouldnt sell it . The reasons given by the owner were as follows: that the manager didnt like the customer- that the keyboard would be to hard for customer to learn. The customer is a professional musician and computer knowledgable IS THIS DISCRIMINATION? DOES CUSTOMER HAVE ANY RECOURSE TO GET THE KEYBOARD? WAS THIS TO JUST GET AN EXTRA KEYBOARD FROM MANUFACTURER? DID STORE HAVE SOMEONE ELSE WHO WAS WILLING TO PAY MORE MONEY FOR KEYBOARD.

THIS IS BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES FOR SURE. Can THE CUSTOMER REPORT THIS SOMEWHERE? AFTER DRAGGING TWO TRADE IN KEYBOARDS, AND THEIR ACCESSORIES ALL THE WAY TO THE STORE, - AND A PAPER SIGNED TO HOLD THE NEW KEYBOARD-- WHAT KIND OF UNETHICAL PRACTICE WOULD MAKE A MUSIC STORE BEHAVE SO AS TO ABUSE A CUSTOMER READY TO PAY $2,400 PLUS TWO OTHER KEYBOARDS FOR THE NEW KEYBOARD?

Re: A Music Store refuses to sell customer piano keyboard .

The store can sell or not sell its goods to whomever it chooses. The manager did not violate any laws or any contract with you by refusing to sell the keyboard to you. You have no legal recourse in this situation. I would recommend that you call and/or send a letter to the store manager's superior and/or the president of the company and let them know what happened. You may very well get some satisfaction that way. Good luck!
