Non compete Agreement

I was released fue to a company wide RIF. My non compete agreement states I have to wait 12 months to go work for a competitor. Should this agreement be null and void since my company RIF.

The validity of the agreement is not affected by a RIF unless such an express condition is set forth in the contract itself. You may ask for a waiver, but they are not required to give you one.

Whether or not you can, or will for that matter, be held responsible for the non-compete agreement depends on the particular circumstances and the language in your non-compete.
