Perhaps. When your company provides service people for a job, is there any written contract which states the terms under which your company offers the services and any liability assumed or disclaimed by your company? It is legally very important whether the hk was an employee or an independent contractor in assessing who may be liable. It is also very important whether your company was negligent in failing to background check or monitor the hk.

Retain an attorney if you have not already done so, and tell the former client to contact your attorney.
