Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

If I quit a job suddenly, is the employer required to mail the paycheck to me? Can they force me to pick it up in person? Are they required to give it to a 3rd party if I intruct them to?

Assuming there is no contract, they can generate the final paycheck on their normal schedule. It is really their choice if they will mail it to you or request that you pick it up. I can see that some employers would want you to pick it up in person. That way they could get you to sign whatever separation paperwork they feel that they need. (that usually includes a statement that you received your final pay, you have returned all property belonging to the company, and you have received all of your personal property that was on the premises)

As an employer, I would not give the final paycheck to any third person. That could bring up thorny issues if the check goes missing or is inappropriately cashed.
