Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

What state should our lawyer be from?

We sold our internet web hosting business in September 2005.

The business was in the state of Florida. The contract says that the last payment of $50,000.00 is due on March 1, 2006. The buyers have made two payments on time but have failed to pay for the utilities in the amount of $3900.00. The buyers also moved the equipment and customer base to Wisconsin. We have no access to our business since they have locked us out, which is normal. We feel that we might have a problem with the last payment since they are not taking care of the utilities that happen to be in our name. As a precaution, we would like to hire a lawyer in case the last paymenti not sent. Qusetion..Do we hire a lawyer from New Mexico (where we are living?), in Florida where the business was located, or in Wisconsin where the buyers are located?

My husband will be in the hospital very soon for spinal fusion. This operation will have a long recuperation period. We also have the original contract.

Thank You,

Either where you live or Wisconsin, unless the contract limits where suit may be commenced. If you need sue where you are, then if judgment is obtained it will probably need be domesticated in Wi. before execution can issue. For me details you may call me and reference this question.

Your contract may require legal action in Florida, but if not, you can sue either there or in WI. If I understand your information your sale of the business and the business itself had no connection with NM, so probably not there.
