Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida

My daughter was attacked and raped when she was 13 years old. She is now 15 years old and her Aunt and Cousin on her biological fathers side have been harrassing and spreading lies about my daughter and what happened when she was attacked. The cousin goes to the same school as my daughter and she has a large number of students believing these lies and now they are also harrassing my daughter. What can we do legally to help our daughter?

I'm very sorry to hear about what happened to your daughter.

Your daughter has potential claims against the person who attacked her and possibly his parents. Depending on where the attack occurred, the person or company that owns the property where it happened may be responsible too. As far as getting the kids at school to leave her alone, there are several potential things that you can do.

You really should speak to an attorney who has experience in handling cases of this type. Our office has handled a number of sexual assault cases and we would be happy to speak to you about the situation. We offer a free initial consultation.
