Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida
Florida Contract Laws
I work in Florida, and my employer required me to get various certifications for my job. They have increased the amount of money they can bill me out for, and they made me sign a contract stating I would remain at my job for 2yrs or I would be charged for the certifications I was made to get. Is this legal in the Contract Law of Florida? I was forced to sign this and I have not gained anything from the certification, no bonus, no raise, nothing. However, I have been told that the expense spent on the certification is a tax write off for them, and they are also making more money off of me, and they required me to obtain this. If I leave before the 2yrs, will I have to repay them for the cost?

Yes it is legal for you to contractually agree to repay employer costs if you leave before a certain time frame.
