Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida

Is this slander?

My husband is a Rodeo Announcer. He was hired by a Rodeo Club to perform certain promotional actities (radio, tv, etc); announce the queen contest; and provide general support to the main announder hired for the rodeo performances. He then submitted his bill for services and was paid without question about 3 weeks later. Another rodeo is coming up and he has just learned that he was ''voted out'' because he had ''padded'' his bill for the prior work. Because other committees and stock contractors may hear of this, it could cost him plenty in future work. Is this slander and how best can we pursue?

Re: Is this slander?

If it is published (verbally or in writing) to others and untrue, then it is defamation.

You can either demand that the offending party cease and desist and issue a retraction, or hire an attorney to do it, or sue. Negotiation is far less expensive and time-consuming, even if you hire an attorney.
