Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Florida

Taking of Property by Eminent Domain

Can a government body take private property for an intended public purpose through eminent domain, then later after the taking, change their mind and sell it to a private use? I think there was a Supreme Court Case regarding the City of Los Angeles and their taking a Chavez Ravine (Dodger Stadium).

If the government genuinely intends to use the property at the time of the taking then there is no problem, even if it changes its mind later. To hold otherwise would lock governments into projects even where there are compelling reasons to abandon them.
