Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

Employee not paid for services

My husband erects steel for a company he has worked for for 2 years. The owner of the company has paid the employees on time approximately twice in the past 4 months. We are so behind on our bills that our power and water have been shut off. We ask him when they will be paid and he always has an excuse. How can we get him to pay? And can we get interest due to the late fees and recconnects that we are incurring?

Re: Employee not paid for services

There is a way to get yourselves paid. It is to bring a suit for violating the Florida wage and hour act, or the federal equivalent, the Fair Labor Standards Act. I would be happy to discuss this more in depth with you, and what such a lawsuit entails. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
