Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

house construction

i have made a contract to build a house in 7 months. 7 months was last january. for a few months now

they haven't been doing any work on the house. Also they haven't been paying their subcontractors even though we have been giving them money and they(the sbcontractros) will not finish the job until they are paid for previous work. Is it fair of them (the copntractor)to ask for money for work wich hasn't

been done? what happens if they never come to finish? Do we never move in to our house? Each time the architect rings them they say we are coming to finish but they never do'What happens if I get other people to finish it? WILL HE BE ABLE TO SUE ME?

Re: house construction

The following is not legal advice and nothing herein shall create an attorney/client relationship.

You are in a very difficult position because you already have money invested in this project and have legitimate concerns about it getting completed. There is the real risk that subcontractors who are not paid will come after you or make claims against the property. You must consult with an attorney immediately or risk further liability. You need a title search and a review of all notices and liens that have been filed. I will be happy to review for you free of charge [email protected]
