Answering Request For Production

Is there a form or format to answering a request for production of documents?

The oposing attorney sent request for production of documents and I don't konw how to answer.

Most documents do not exsist.

Yes, there is a basic format. Essentially, you should at least reference the Civil Rule of Procedure regarding the production of documents in your response. You file only the Response to Request for Production with the clerk's office and not the attached documents themselves. You provide the other side with the Response to Request for Production with the attached documentation. If most documents don't exist, then answer "None in Defendant's possession" or "None". You really should have a lawyer if you are being sued. You cannot expect to beat a lawyer in a lawsuit if you are a non-lawyer.
