Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

Private School Tuition

We registered and paid for the first semester of our children's tution at a private school. My husband and I have since separated and cannot afford the continuing tuition payments. We submitted a request for withdrawal and a refund of the tuition. Citing the handbook that stated the school would keep registration, application and first months tuition if the students didn't start school (which they haven't). I got the response that they will keep all of the tuitions already paid stating we signed a contract stating '' I understand that: the obligation to pay the tuition for the full academic year is unconditional; that the school, in reserving a place for my child, is relying on my promise to pay the tuition.'' We are talking about close to $9000.00 of tuition. Can we presue this and expect anything or should we consider the money lost to us?

Re: Private School Tuition

You would really need to read the contract or have a lawyer review it.
