No return policy was advised, when this was ordered over the phone, and no return policy is on the invoice. the store said that they can only take it back, on consignment, and they will take 30% of what they sell it for. what are my options? You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

You may not have any options other than what was offered or to sell the unit yourself. It is bad business for the store not to accept a return but it was also foolish of you not to find out their return policy in advance. If you had paid with a credit card, you might have some recourse through the company but that is not an option based on your description.

You should call your local consumer affairs department of your county or city government. There might be local laws regarding refund policies which could help you.
