Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

rip off over charge for service

I have been over charged for service on an air conditioner service. Haven't been able to get a reduction from the business. I have found some blogg type sites for the area. If I write a beware of this company. Will they be in a position to sue me. Are attorney fees awarded to the prevaling party in Florida? The amount is not so great that I should sue, but I'm concerned about having to defind if they should take me to task on the warning I can put out to others so they are not ripped of as I was. I was told I need a UV light system to pprevent mold that was already in the duct work. I asked what the cost would be? the service man said eighteen-fifty five. Well that sounded fair, little did I know it was one thousand, eitht hundred and fifty five. I was totally mis led. I have invistigated several companys in the area, they would have charged on an average of one thousand and forty-five dollars. I've written several letters requesting a written statment of the work and a price reduction, but have received no response. I would like to put out the word o others are not cheated as we were. What else can I do? Who could help on this matter in The Port Charlotte Fl area? Thank you

Re: rip off over charge for service

You do realize that Eighteen Fifty five (1855) is the same thing as One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty five (1855), right?

It doesn't sound like you were overcharged, even if other companies in the area would do the job for less money. From what you posted it seems that you were given a quote which you accepted. In the future get quotes in writing.
