Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

If I accept a credit card for payment, the bank says the funds are in my account. Then 3 weeks later I have used the funds. Now I am being told the card was stolen I have to repay the bank.

Did you do your due diligence upon the collecting of payment to ensure that the person using the card was in fact the authorized card-holder on the account. Are you able to verify that you did that and that you have proper procedures in place to prevent this type of fraud/theft? I suspect that you simply were very laid back in your procedure for collecting payment, did not verify whether the person paying was truly the person authorized to pay, and you are facing the consequence. If, however, you did everything you could have done to prevent theft/fraud and you yourself are being scammed, you may want to hire an attorney to fight this.
