I have defaulted on a student and a credit collection agency has threated to sue if i dont pay. How long does it take for the credit collection agency to issue a lawsuit?

It may take several months before a Collection Agency files a lawsuit as they try to resolve the issue without spending more money. However, depending on your contract, they may be in their right to file a suit immediately.
