Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

my husband was disabled in 2001 when we went to a debt solution co. to handled all our credit cards. they did a good job but one of our credit cards sold the account to a collection for pennys on the dollar but now that co. will not settle, debt was in Louisiana in 2001. Can they come back on us if we stop all transaction? Can they sue us or turn us over to IRS?

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. Chances are that the creditor is far beyond any time in which it could file suit against you. You should gather all documents that you have regarding this matter and contact a local attorney who can best advise you.

Your solution may be very simple, a quick letter from your attorney instructing the creditor to cease collection efforts might do the trick. Best of luck.
