Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I am inquiring for my daughter who is of legal age but unavailable at the time. The problem is she was living in Fla. where over the past year aquired a drug dependency addiction. I living in Illinois went to Fla. to bring her back and help her get away from the problem. I got her in a hospital and now is in a rehab center, for how long I don't know. Recently she was forwarded a summons sent to her last address to appear in Broward County Circuit Court for non payment of a debt of approximately 3,900.00. She has no means of support at this time and is currently in a Chemical Dependency Facility for a period of months. Being out of town what can be done to rectify this problem. Your help in this matter is much appreciated. Thanks in advance. "overwhelmed Father"

Seek a lawyer in the county in which your daughter was sued.

You will need someone to answer the summons and appear at the hearing. The debt probably has interest due and you could possibly negotiate the amount due down with a stipulation.
