lease contract

My daughters signing a lease and they asked me to sign a contribution affidavit. I'm not asking to sign the lease and it dont ref. this form in the lease so can I be legally resp. for the lease.

I would be very cautious here. Read this affidavit carefully. You probably should even have an attorney give it a once over. I have not seen a "Contribution Affidavit" for a vehicle. I would guess (and I do mean guess) that either they are attempting to verify that you are providing some of the income/support of/for your daughter (like income verification) or the more insidious case, it is a backhanded way to obtain a co-buyer on the note. The easiest way to tell is if they are asking for your social security number in any of this. If so, then it is a dead giveaway that your on the hook! If not, then you still may be, and you REALLY need to read this carefully before signing.

It depends on what the document you are signing says. If it says you are responsible for payment on the lease, then you are responsible.
