Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

medical bill collection when on S.S.Dissability

I have a hospital bill that goes back to 1998 that I couldn't pay, so it went to collection. I agreeed to pay 40.00 per month, which I have done. Problem is, I have been disabeled for two years, And I can no longer keep up my payments, living entirely on my S.S. Dissability check.

I have managed to keep them up for a year and a half while not working, but can no longer do so. I have not paid them in 6 months and their really getting on me. What can I do, outside of bankruptsy, if anything? Can they attach my s.s.check? Take my mobil home? Thanx in advance, --name removed--F. Miner

The assets you mentioned are exempt from collection on a judgment against you.
