Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

My wife died from cancer 2 years ago and i inherited the house. Because of the bad economy and not having dual incomes any longer, i am now facing foreclosure. Without anyone notifying me, an attorneys office went calling on my deceased wife's out of state family and mine as well, looking for heirs? I have been publicly humiliated all across the midwest. This is my private pain and i am outraged that all my relatives and extended family have been informed. Why can i do? I believe i am entitled to damages for this gross negligence. Can you please advise?

Not sure why you are humiliated. If your wife died intestate, then there is reasonable cause to ascertain all the heirs. If she died with a Will, then the beneficiaries need to be contacted.

You need to explain the facts a little more. If they are calling to collect a debt for which you are responsible, then this is a violation of the collection laws. See www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com
