Not usually. Normally, there would be a conflict of interest, depending on the charges against each and how they are connected. For instance, if two people were in a car and one was charged with driving without a license and the other had drugs on his person, there is not likely to be a conflict, but it would still be a close call. If on of the accused is going to be placing the blame for the crime on the other accused, then there is a definite conflict. Conflicts can sometimes be overcome by agreement of the parties and a waiver of conflict.
