Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

help

My boyfriend was recently charged with petty theft. He was not arrested or taken into custody. Before his pre-trial (to enter in his plea) he had been asking who the plaintiff was. We have been trying to find out who the plaintiff was for about a month now and no one will tell us. I even paid $40 to have a public defender meet with us, and every time my boyfriend calls to make an appointment they give us the breeze. They tell us to call back another day or at a later time. My boyfriend has court on Monday. Legally, can they with hold that information from us?

Re: help

They aren't withholding the information, they arent giving you good service. The accuser is the victim of the petit theft. All the information is public record and available at the clerk's office.
