My daughter was charged with petit theft. Failed to show up for second arraignmentcourt date.what will happen to her now. recieved notice in the mail to go to booking and recieveing and there is a bond . what happens next . do i need a bail bonds man . Will she be arrested . what is a second degree misdemeanor.how t does his affect her in terms of getting a jobs in the furture .

A second degree misdemeanor means it is punishable by up to 60 days jail and a $500 fine. You don't have to use a bail bondsman unless you don't have enough cash to cover the bond. As far as her future goes, this could seriously affect her. While some employers will overlook this charge as not that serious, many, if not most, will assume, rightly or wrongly, that once a thief always a thief. So in order to counter this possibility, she should seek good representation to fight this.
