Dealing in stolen property
I bought a computer from a person who seem to be getting rid of it to prevent his wife getting it in a divorce. He had much more ''stuff'' then that but I bought it cheap knowing I could sell it for more to get wifes medicine. It didn't sell and now I need money right away so I pawned it. $250.....just enough for the medicine. That was my whole intentions of buying, not even thinking it might be stolen. Granted, hind sight, I would like to know what I'm up against? I'm 46, Black, Male and never been in trouble with the law beside, back in the 90's had to take care of a forgotten ticket. The reason I gave description because I feel my race doesn't do well in the system, even when innocent....just trying to keep it honest. I really fear what is happening. Can you give me some insight or suggestions?
Re: Dealing in stolen property
Good a good criminal lawyer. Buying stuff for cheap is okay. Buying stuff for amazingly cheap is called "willful blindness," and juries can sniff it out in a heartbeat. If the deal is too good to be true, juries know that you knew it was stolen, and prosecutors use this theory to convict people all the time.
