Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Driving with a Suspended License.

I was at a work event in Winter Park, which my friend Josh drove to. He was not supposed to drink but chose to disobey my wishes. While I was talking to a few interested clients, he became bored, and drank. Where we were at was 8 minutes or so away from his house so I figured I would drive him home and just stay there till he sobered up. Well around 11:30pm when I was leaving, I got pulled over. I was arrested for driving with a suspended license and taken to jail.

I do not have the money to get a lawyer. Do they appoint me a lawyer on the day of court?

Would it be difficult if I represented myself?

If I could represent myself what main advice could you give me pertaining to this kind of case?

There are no good defenses to the case but you need the public defender.

I would recommend filling out a affidavit showing you are indigent at your Arraignment and request a Public Defender. While you can represent yourself, I wouldn't advise it if you are concerned about having a criminal record. If you are able to get your license reinstated prior to court, it will help in possibly reducing the suspended license charge. Good Luck.
