Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Florida Criminal Record 10+ yrs old???

In Florida, isn't a criminal record more than 10 years old no longer valid? Also, when someone like a landlord or creditor in the state of Florida does a background check on a florida resident, isn't that background check limited to the past 10 years??? Like, if a Florida resident has a Florida conviction/prison record from 1990 with sentence completed in 1995, but is denied a rental or credit application in florida, isn't it possible to challenge that denial based on Florida law that prevents a criminal record more than 10 years old being used against that person??? Thank You!

Re: Florida Criminal Record 10+ yrs old???

You are incorrect about a 10 year old record not being valid. If you had an offense 10 years ago or more and have no arrests since then, they are not scoreable on your current punishment scoresheet for a new crime committed. But a conviction is on your record forever, and usable forever.
