Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My friend was charged with attempting to purchase cocaine and attempting to distribute. He's from Ohio and the action took place in Florida. How do a person get charged with this and what's the penalty if found guilty

The penalty depends on the amount and how the state charges it. If simple distribution as opposed to trafficking, then it is probably a second degree felony punishable by up to 15 years prison. Trafficking may also face that maximum or depending on the amount even 30 years or life in extreme cases. Trafficking however has mandatory minimums from 3 y.ears to 7 years to 15 years minimum. You should talk to an attorney in person or by phone to see what is most likely.
