Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

My friend and I were involved in a couple of prank phone calls to an old employer. A police officer said the only way I would not be arrested, is if I meet with the Employers and acknowledge my wrong doing and apologize. I do not feel comfortable doing this without knowing my rights. I should not have to admit to anything without proper legal advice first. I feel as though this is a family cop friend that is just trying to humiliate us and there really is no legal issues involved. Should I meet with this cop and Employer?

Absolutely NOT!! Read the following page from our South Florida Criminal Defense website, http://www.leifertlaw.com. If you are the subject of a criminal investigation, it is up to the government and law enforcement to build their case WITHOUT your help or incrimination.

So the cop says, "Just confess and it will be okay"? Time to talk to a lawyer.

Never, ever meet with police or opposing parties without your attorney present. EVER. I'm not a criminal defense attorney, but that is the most basic thing I know. Just don't do it -- they are not your friends, and they are not trying to help you.
