Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I have hired an attorney in state of Florida while on vacation with my family, and was summoned with criminal misdemornor offense for collecting a queen conch. This was our first time here and thought it was just a nice shell, much less a criminal situation. I hired an attorney and feel a little uneasy at the current moment. Since over 11 hours away I hired a private attorney to handle this, and get it worked out in an orderly fashion with a fine, community service or something along these lines. Court arrangement was scheduled for the 20th of July, and he sent me a paper to sign and get notirorzed and fax back saying I'm pleading not guilty and request for jury trial. I just got a formal paper from the clerk of court in the mail saying my case was assigned to something called a docket sounding in sept. I was under the impression this attorney was going to fight for me, and go to hearings and get plea bargains or charges dropped. I'm frantic right now, and do not know what to do.

This is not something that an attorney can answer on this forum. You need to have a long discussion with your own attorney. That may allay some of your fears.
