leaving a scence

I left a scence of and accident,the owner of the home said he wasn't gonna press charges.I received a letter from the state attorneys office that I have to go to court for leaving and accident scence. What can happen to me

The state can press charges whether the victim wants to or not. Your best bet is to hire an attorney to represent you. contact us if you need further assistance.

The first step is that you'll be arraigned (given a chance to plead guilty, not guilty, or no contest) on the criminal charge. (That's right, I said criminal, this isn't just a traffic infraction.)

If you plead no contest or guilty, you'll be sentenced. If you plead not guilty, you'll be given a trial date.

This is pretty serious stuff, and you could possibly do time for it. Find a criminal lawyer right away.
