Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

My nephew is 18 and received a written arrest for possession of alcohol by a minor in Palm beach county. He appeared at his first court date and he pleaded guilty and they gave him a fine of $268.00. he supposed to appear at another court date in 90 days to pay the fine. Is there any way we can just pay the fine and avoid him personally having to appear in court again (i.e. if we get a lawyer to represent him) and if so, what type of lawyer do we need, would one that specialized in traffic violations suffice?

Certainly, you can pay. Talk to the clerk and they may end up cancelling that court date. However, don't not go unless you get something in writing. Alternatively, you can hire an attorney to do this as well.

Normally the court date is to see if he paid and not for him to pay in court. Speak with the clerk. He may need to pay the fine and get proof that he paid and then see if they will cancel his next appearance. He should make sure to show up unless he has written proof that he does not have to appear.
