Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Probation Violation

My husband had been on probation in FL for felony assessory after the fact, carried out approx. 1yr of said probation, then was assigned a new officer whom ordered that b/c he was making payments from out of state report & relocate to the state of florida-his lawyer who was on retainment for that very case, who was also paid twice for this case advised him not to report & to immediately stop payment... He's not been able to do anything since this, & also been arrested during routine traffic stops & FL has not come to extradite either times... PLZ help. Also, we've tried to contact this ''lawyer'' & nothing, no return phone calls, no answering our calls, NOTHING. SCREWED HIM & IS LIVING IT UP ON OUR DIME. We don't even know if he's licensed in FL b/c like I mentioned b4-it's out of state *residents of AL*. In your answer could u plz include if or not I will require a lawyer, &/or if it's possible to work it out without him having to lose his job of 5 yrs to be incarcerated in order to see the judge or someone that can help. PLZ & THANK U.

Re: Probation Violation

First off, go to FloridaBar.org and look the attorney up if you do not believe he is licensed in Florida. next, it was very bad advice to stop paying and I kinda doubt a lawyer gave that advice. Generally a probation officer will not just simply order someone back to the state. But there have to be more facts. The only way to resolve the matter is to hire a lawyer and see if he can clear it up. You're going to have to pay for it. Don't hire someone you don't trust. It can be done over the phone or the internet.

Re: Probation Violation

First, posting your question 3 times will not help you anymore than one post.

Second, you need to contact an attorney in Florida who specializes in criminal matters. You should first look for an attorney in the city where your husband was convicted.

As for the attorney who represented your husband, if you want to know if they are licensed in Florida simply go the Florida Bar website at www.flabar.org There is a link at the top of the page "Find an Attorney", put in the attorney's last name and click search.

Also, tell your husband to stop doing things to get pulled over in traffic stops. Depending on what he is being stopped for, he could be deemed to have violated his parole. In any event, it doesn't look good to the court or his probation officer if he is getting pulled over all the time.
