Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Roommate tampering with mail...

I recently had some trouble with my roommate. I have not been staying at our place (rented house). During the last couple weeks he took all of my mail except my bank statements and did 'something' with them. I was expecting numerous things in the mail including: A replacement drivers lisence, a replacement state I.D. card, replacement debit card, and a replacement EBT card (among others). Due to me losing my wallet... I know it is a felony to tamper with another person's mail. I also know for a fact that he is hiding or destroyed my mail. What is the correct steps in pursuing a case with this?

You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. If you cannot resolve it with your roommate amicably, you can file a complaint with the Postmaster in your area. They have a postal police department who will investigate. Tampering with the United States Mail is a federal criminal offense.
