Re: sentence questions

You are facing a maximum sentence of one year in jail and/or $1000 fine. If you have no criminal history, you may also be eligible for what is commonly called "pretrial diversion," which allows you to go to counseling and community service, resulting in the State dropping the charges at the completion of all the conditions they require of you. You are likely to receive probation, with numerous conditions including 26 weeks of counseling commonly called Batterer's Intervention Program, community service, fines, and no or peaceful contact with the victim. If alcohol or drugs are mentioned in the police report, you may also be required to undergo substance abuse treatment and random drug/alcohol urine screens. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me.
