Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Shoplifting cases (2)

I have a question about a misdemeanor case. In 2006 I was arrested for petit theft and given a court date. (Florida) Then, in 2007 I committed another theft & was given a court date for that. (Florida again) Different county. The public defender dragged his feet on the 2006 charge & asked that I sign a paper I did not agree to. I decided to leave the state entirely (both cases were in trial stage) & have two warrants on me, now. Since I live 800 miles from where this occurred, thought life would improve. WRONG! I am homeless. My income has been less than $500 over the past 2 years. Would like to wrap this up or fall off the face of the Earth. Drinking problems, etc. What should I do at this point? Thanks!

Re: Shoplifting cases (2)

Either contact the state attorney in each county to see if you can resolve them or turn yourself in. Once you surrender a pd can resolve your cases and put some social services in place.
