Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I was stopped driving a rental in Maryland, when I got stopped the officer made me aware that I was not able to leave Florida with the car, now I have to go to court and I have a criminal charge>??? it is the state of Maryland vs. me. The rental place never told me that or asked me where I was heading it to. I could go to jail for this according to the paper I received from the courts of Maryland, if found guilty

How should I proceed when I go to court, I did drive the car, but was not aware of the small writting in the contract
