Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I was stopped outside. a store for shoplifting. I had 2 small items valued at $28 in my front seat part of a shopping cart. I picked up a prescription in a bag in the store and placed it on top of the items. As I began to shop again I accidentally picked up the 2 items won't with script bag and placed it all in my purse which was in front cart also. The police came and I received a court date I am 64 and have never been arrested.. I was told the charges could be dropped iif not I could plead guilty and pay a fine.can't afford a lawyer but was told a mediator would be there to help me.. If I plead guilty then I am saying I purposely took the items. What should I do?

You are not guilty if you didn't have intent to steal. You should ask the judge for a public Defender to discuss this in more detail and see what is the best option for you.
