Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

Accident 4 months ago just got license suspended for it today, no notification.

I got into a car accident in oct. 25 2008. I just got word today, March 9, 2009 that my license will be suspended on March 19, 2009. Nobody told me or sent a letter i simply found out by trying to renew my expiring license for May 1, 2009. I'm about to graduate college, have a job, a car loan that I got assuming everything is ok since i paid my ticket already for reckless driving, and assuming my life is getting back together post accident. Is there a speedy trial case here. I could potential lose my job, lose my car, and not graduate. Not to mention go bankrupt. All because I thought i paid my reckless driving fine and was over with this, besides medical bills. Its been 4 months, what can I do.

It sounds like a financial/judgment suspension based on the accident. However, the charge of Reckless Driving is a criminal charge. Contact my office tomorrow and I will gladly review your case for you with out charge.

Let's not panic here. Your life isn't over because of a suspension. Like most anything, it can be fixed. Check with the DMV and find out why your license is suspended even though you paid the ticket. Did you agree to take the driving class then not take it? Did you fail to show up in court (reckless driving, unlike careless driving, requires a court appearance)?

Did you cause property damage to someone else or hurt someone? If so, they may have sued you and gotten a default, which could suspend your license.

Find out what happened, then fix it or get a lawyer to help you fix it. Don't panic.
