Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

While tailgating at my college I was given a written arrest (or at least I think its a written arrest, it says "Notice to Appear" at the top) for possession of alcohol under 21. It is my first offense, I dont even have any tickets if that matters. I have a court date this coming Thursday. I am not sure what to expect or what to say or do?

You should consult an attorney. I can recommend one, but I am not sure where you are. Believe it or not, copping out to this simple charge can cause you big headaches later on. If you don't consult an attorney before court, plead not guilty and then go see one.

I agree with the above answer. As a former prosecutor, just pleading to the offense can provide big headaches when looking for work. You should look into a diversion program, commonly called PTI, which is a program involving community service, etc. and at the end if successfully completed the charges would be dismissed. If you are in the Tampa Bay area, I would be happy to assist you in the defence of this charge, or in helping you get into the diversion program.

It usually takes an attorney to negotiate a favorable diversion - if you need my assistance call me or send me an e-mail.
