Cruise vacation rip-off

On March 9, 2003 my husband and I started a 10 Hawaiian vacation. We boarded our cruise ship on Sunday and cruised to Hilo arriving on Monday. Tuesday we set off for the Fanning Islands on Wed. we dock on the island. We were there for 1hr, when a crew memeber was critically injured. We were advised that we must leave Fanning immediately and return to Honolulu. The trip was officially over. We headed to Honolulu when during the night the captain turned the ship around and headed away from Honolulu and Fanning Is. toward Christmas Island for medical attention. We were now deep in the pacific ocean and no chance of seeing any of the planned islands Maui, Kaiui. The rest of the cruise was sitting on the deck for 4 days watching the pacific go by. For this the cruise line offered 100.00 pp on board credit. They now have offered a 812.00 cruise certificate to be used to purchase another cruise within a year. I have tried to negiotiate with them to no avail. There main office is in Florida and I am from N.Y. I have spent over $6000.00 for this dream vacation and have nothing to show for it. Do I have any recourse. Thank You

Re: Cruise vacation rip-off

If you can substantiate your damage and show that the money you spect was directly and reasonably attributed to the cruise, you may be able to recover by suing the company but unless the company has a presence in New York or is registered as a corporation in New York, you may need to sue them in Florida should you choose to seek legal redress.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699
