Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am a British female living in the USA with my second husband who is also British. We are here on a work visa. My ex husband (also British) lives in our neighborhood with his second wife who is a US Citizen. He has a green card through marriage. I have 2 daughters with my first husband who were born in the UK but have green cards through their step-mother. My question is does Florida family law apply to us? He is not paying me any child support and is traveling to the UK for long periods of time to run his business there while I am paying all the expenses for the children. I want to get something arranged for the children where he pays something towards their clothing, food etc but don't know if I have to go through the UK or here?

If you have been living here for 6 consecutive months then you can file in Florida. Whether you are a US citizen does not matter.
