Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Name change for a minor child

I am a resident of Florida with my minor child. My divorce is filed in Fulton County, GA. The child's father's whereabouts are unknown. I want to place a public notification of a request for a name change for the minor child. Where do I post this notification, what terminology do I use and how long does the notice need to be published?

Thank you.

Re: Name change for a minor child

Obtain from the Clerk of Courts in the county where you and your child reside a Petition For Change of Name. Complete form, obtain other documents required such as birth certificate; obtain consent or father or serve notice on father by service, legal ad, or constructive notice. You did not explain a reason for a change of name. If you intend to change the surname of the child, you will need a reason and consent from father. You might include the name change as part of the Final Judgment in the divorce, depending on the reason. You may need to consult with a local attorney or agency.
