Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

my daughter is 5 years old. she has her daddy's last name. he is a deadbeat. he has completely abandoned her. he plys no part in her life at all. on her birth cert it says no father listed. how do i go about getting her last name changed to mine? and she was conceived in fl where we currently live, but she was born in south carolina. would i go throuhg sc or fl to resolve this issue?

You can file a petition for name change in Florida, but you have to serve the father, and he has the right to object. Of course, if he really has abandoned her as you say, it's doubtful a judge will honor his objection.
