Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce with Minor Children - Discussions

My boyfriend has been separated from his wife for 4 years. He has finally initiated the divorce in FL pro se.They have two minor children-6 and 9.The hearing is set for April 2nd and so far,we think he's done everything he should, but he has a new problem now where the mother has been discussing the divorce and pending visitation, custody, relocation, etc.with the children and upsetting them. Today, they told their grandma in the car when they were with us that they and their mom were moving somewhere and that they have to go to court and talk to a judge about who they want to live with. ?!?!? Imagine OUR surprise! NOTHING has been settled yet, and their father plans to hold her to the FL statute that states she needs permisson to relocate so IF they do go anywhere, it's not for a while. My question is; however, is there anything he can do in the meantime to make her stop talking to them about this and upsetting them? They said they cried when she said they'd have to tell the judge that they want to live with her!!!We only told them nothing is final and to not worry. Can we force to be quiet for the next two weeks, at least? How?Please help; the boys are nervous and scared because they think they have to talk to a judge. UGH!

You could file a motion to prohibit her from speaking to the kids about the case. But that isn't the real problem.

The real problem is that you put the kids' lives on the line by handling this case yourself. I don't mean any offense, but your question is a simple one, and an attorney with ten minutes family law experince could answer it. You don't even know the basics. You're going to risk these kids' future because you won't get a lawyer to handle the case. Go get a lawyer, go get a lawyer right now.

Lawyers are expensive, but there's nothing more expensive than not having one.
